The Houston Ukrainian community and its dedicated volunteers invite you to a fundraising lunch for Ukraine on Sunday, October 18th! The conflict in Eastern Ukraine has continued for over a year and half, with over 8,000 casualties, 18,000 injuries, and more than 1.5 million displaced civilians. Unfortunately, there is no end in sight. Winter is coming and Ukraine's brave soldiers, who are putting their lives on the line to protect Ukraine's freedom and maintain peace in the country, need warm clothing, boots, cold weather sleeping bags, and other gear. They need your help and support! 10 am - Pokrova Protection of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church will begin the day with a liturgy dedicated to the defenders of our Motherland. 12 pm - We will present a program of videos, slide shows, and stories from the frontline through the eyes of soldiers, volunteers and journalists who have seen it all. The program will be followed by lunch - a delicious hot plate of Ukrainian food and delectable desserts. We ask that lunch plate donations start at $25. All proceeds will go to support Ukraine's troops. We will also record your words of encouragement and thanks to the soldiers so that they know that we're always thinking of them from thousands of miles away. Show your pride, unity, and generosity by joining us in this meaningful cause! We hope to see you on October 18th! If you are not able to attend the luncheon, you can still donate by Master Card, Visa or Discover at www.Pokrova.org. Click on the "Donate" icon. ALL donations go to support our troops in Ukraine. For questions or more information, please contact Luba Dub or Marta Melnychuk-Dub (UkraineAidUSA@gmail.com) Optional dress code: vyshyvanka or other attire that shows off your Ukrainian pride! This event is organized in coordination with Branch #118 of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America and Pokrova Ukrainian Catholic Church.
