On February 4th, parishioners and friends of Pokrova had the honor of hosting The Most Reverend Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk. Despite the cloudy weather, we had a memorable day that began with welcoming Bishop Benedict in front of our church, followed by a unique Pontifical Liturgy. We continued celebrations in our parish hall with a Texas-themed luncheon and performances from our Ridna Shkola Ukrainian School of Houston students and their parents as well as a wonderful tsymbaly repertoire by our parishioner Mykhailo Swydnycky. The President of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, Chrystyna Bryndzia, presented Bishop Benedict with a $500 check for the Ukrainian Catholic University. Several of our parishioners were recognized for their contributions to the growth and prosperity of our church, and we ended our day by presenting a few 'Texas-style' gifts and souvenirs to Bishop Benedict. It was an unforgettable day for all involved, and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and every person who volunteered their time and energy into coordinating this event down to the last detail and executing it all flawlessly. We look forward to Bishop Benedict's future trips and hope all of you will be able to take part!
